Hello
This is a little archive that is a celebration of the small literary magazine and is dedicated to the tremendous work that publishers/editors (often the same people) did/do in keeping an often little appreciated but vitally important artform (and it is an artform) going. I hope you enjoy it.
I'm always appreciative of any old magazines you may have and would like to send my way. I will happily scan them and return them to you. Give me a shout at gregorymccartney@hotmail.com first, in case I already have them and for address details etc. Thanks!
Copyright
Copyright obviously resides with the creators of the publications in this archive. I will try and find creators and seek their permission where I can but obviously given the age of the majority of the magazines and the limited resources available to me, this is not always possible. If anyone (with good reason) objects to anything here, contact me at gregorymccartney@hotmail.com for further information. The purpose of the archive is purely for preservation, research, education and fun. It is not for profit and is free to use. It's hard for many people outside the University arena and the major towns that have a big library to read old mags. They're very ephemeral things and often last only a few issues. I hope to bring the tradition of the small literary mag into public consciousness.
Thanks
Thanks to the Arts Council of Northern Ireland for their support of this project through their SIAP funding project. This wouldn't happen without them.
Thanks again to Brendan Hackett, who was so generous with his superb collection of Irish literary magazines.
Thanks of course to everyone that made small literary magazines what they were and are - the vital eco-system in which everything else grows.
How to Use
The Archive is best used with Edge (Internet Explorer), Firefox, or really anything besides Chrome. If you've only got Chrome, you'll find that the item viewer won't display properly. If you refresh/reload the page that usually sorts the problem out.
